Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) market seems to be coming out of the slump. Sales jobs are increasing at a slower rate when compared to that of pre-recession period.

People wanting to seek a job in this field can go ahead with their plans. There is a possibility of the job security in the FMCG market going stronger. However bad may be the economic conditions, everybody needs consumables for their survival. Spending on FMCG products dropped during the recession, but now there is a silver lining and the spending figures are showing an encouraging trend.

There is really no possibility of the consumables market completely collapsing as consumables need to be constantly replaced. If you are knowledgeable in this field, you will certainly find a good job. There are plenty of job opportunities for entry-level employees.

FMCG jobs are always available when you are willing to work on commission. Those who want to enter this arena are recommended to seek out a job only on commission basis. Only people with good experience can get jobs on salary or hourly wages. However, having an adequate college degree will give you an edge. But people who enter this field are not generally educated, let alone degree holders. This is an interesting field where working for an employer who sells sugar or tobacco requires vastly different employment requirements than an employer who deals in fruits and vegetables.

Each alternate product requires a drastically different sales approach and knowledge about the product. The profit on each individual item is lesser than that on other kinds of products. But you can sell the same products to the same customers for a longer period. Thus it is an extremely profitable market where the volume of sales can be sizable.
