Retail Sales Jobs description

Retail sales job involve selling to customers in retail settings like retail outlets and stores. Irrespective of the product they sell, the chief responsibility of retail sales job holders is to execute planned promotions, merchandising and selling.

A retail sales job involves providing a pleasant selling experience to customers. This includes greeting customers in a friendly and personable manner and using product knowledge and selection to provide effective choices to customers. A retail sales job holder may also build lasting relationships with customers by contacting them to follow up on products and reminding them of upcoming events like discount sales. Performing merchandising tasks like managing inventory through stock replenishment, price markdown, transfer of products and ensuring creative visual presentation of products is also part of a retail sales job.

The minimum qualification required for a retail sales job is a bachelor’s degree, though a high school diploma may also suffice in some cases. Prior experience in retail sales is desirable. A successful retail sales job applicant also exhibits effective communication, follow up, organizational and interpersonal skills.
