The Payor Relations Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining a professional relationship with key referral sources within LifeCare’s referring entities. Through the development of relationships, the Payor Relations Specialist generates and pulls through patient referrals to admission from their assigned accounts and other market accounts. Payor Relations Specialist is responsible for assisting with meeting volume and revenue expectations for the market. The Payor Relations Specialist performs relationship development with referral sources that both directly refers and influences patient referrals, such as payors, adjustors, and others as needed. These contacts are primarily planned and unplanned face to face contacts and they require the skill to expand and maintain strong relationships throughout a referring organization. The Payor Relations Specialist develops strategic plans to effectively manage their accounts and to expand into new accounts as assigned. The Payor Relations Specialist may assist with clinical assessments to determine the LTACH appropriateness of all patient admissions, and may meet with patients and their families to educate about our hospitals, services and programs.
Consistently meets the referral and appropriate LTACH market admission goals as defined by the Director of Business Development and CEO.
Demonstrates the relationship development and sales skills required to develop long term relationships that effectively support patient referrals and admissions. Delivers professional presentations to groups of referral sources on LifeCare and the services we provide. Participates in community organizations that directly impact LifeCare’s referral sources and patient population.
Represents LifeCare in a positive, professional and accurate way that demonstrates the Company’s mission statement.
Utilizes an Account Management System/Outlook to manage accounts and develops marketing plans for the market that clearly outlines tactics and strategies required to meet referral goals.
Maintains and effectively grows in-depth referral source relationships.
May assist with the completion of patient assessments timely, accurately and effectively while adhering to LifeCare’s assessment policies and procedures.
Leads and provides assistance on assigned Marketing and Public Relations projects.
Assists Director of Business Development with gathering data for marketing reports, targeting key physicians/provider opportunities for recruitment purposes, and may act as a backup in the absence of a DBD.
Assists with the creation and implementation of new marketing campaigns and demonstrates excellent marketing, communication and organizational skills.
The knowledge and skills necessary to perform position requirements are demonstrated through the successful completion of competencies established for the position, to include population served, and other special needs of patients and customers, served by the department.
At least two years clinical experience in acute care (i.e. nursing, respiratory, therapy) is preferred. Experience in another clinical field of study may be accepted with RVP approval. Two years of proven successful sales/marketing experience preferred.
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a clinical field of study or graduate of an accredited clinical program. Degree in another field of study may be accepted with RVP approval.
Current clinical license in state where currently practicing; other clinical license, certification or a combination of relevant education and meaningful experience may be accepted with RVP approval. All Clinical Liaisons must maintain current licensure while employed with LifeCare Hospitals.
