What do internet sales jobs involve? What does the seller do? It really depends on what company you work for. But there are some general duties. If you became involved in this career, you would be the liaison between company and customer. You would deal directly with the potential costumer—first in advertising the product or service, and then in finalizing the sale. You would spend a lot of time working with clients over the phone or by email.

Generally, you are also expected by the company to keep the website up. This is one of the biggest salary deciders—if you have the knowledge to keep up the company website, you will make considerably more than the average person in internet sales. (Though many things decide the end salary, around $55,000 to $60,000 is the usual figure.)



Are their educational requirements for this job? There definitely are. Being computer savvy is of course the number one priority. And though a degree is not mandatory, most companies will prefer it if you have a Bachelor’s degree.

Internet sales jobs entail many different abilities—the most important being the before mentioned computer skills. Anyone seeking employment with any company in internet sales will need to be confident with the regular office software. Microsoft Word and Excel programs, experience with the internet, and emailing. Another supremely important quality needed in this job is the ability to take care of customers. Whether old or new, pleasant or moody, your top priority will be to help the customer. This will sometimes involve face to face meetings, where you will represent your company, or sometimes it will simply take a phone call or prompt email. But good customer service should be your first goal. All work success over the internet—especially online selling jobs—depend on client satisfaction.

You would have the capability to work from home, but the company you work for may demand that you do your work at the office. Sometimes a compromise will be reached, where you must come into the office once a week, or sometimes only once a month.

You will be working with a lot of deadlines, and so you will need to have a self-motivated personality. Good communications will also benefit you greatly, since you will be working closely with all sorts of people. You will need to not only be clear in writing, but also in speaking.

The best selling jobs today are in internet sales, and it is an exciting new field that is both challenging and rewarding. More and more people are learning about the unique job benefits, and you could so easily make it your own career.

A job in Internet sales is serious, and though it is a technological career, it is not just for the geek anymore. It is fast-paced work, and very valuable to companies and businesses everywhere.
